That Feel Good Journey to the Past

Covid-19 has definitely placed a big HOLD on filming dramas and other programs… but it has brought back some much asked for programs from the 90’s.

Yes! 90’s shows are once again being aired — and I’m excited!

I honestly believe my childhood was waayyy cooler than how kids nowadays define “cool”. Back in the days, we have educational shows aired during mornings, a series of anime in the late afternoon, collectible items such as Pogs and Text Cards, and a lot more fun stuff which made us go out, play, meet with friends, study with friends, start new hobbies, and be home before 5pm. Of course, there were moments we’d play video games but there was so much simplicity including possibilities I could do and be inspired to pursue because I was more in touch with the present and everything around me.

I’m glad we can have, for a moment, that experience back — those 90’s memories relived — and a chance to enjoy it with the youth today. We don’t just get to tell them about it but sit down and watch with them… tell them more stories… and as we stay at home because of the virus we also get to relive those at-home hobbies we do then as well.

I’m single and I don’t have kids. All I can do is be excited for every household that has kids and every adult in it who used to enjoy these…. they can finally share them this experience especially as they get to spend more time with them…

What made me excited more about this was a post I read a week before the Community Quarantine. I may not remember who posted it but its message was something I agreed to a 100 percent.

The message was a simple request to television networks if they could possibly bring back the educational shows enjoyed during the 90s. Kids nowadays need it especially with all the malice that can also be found and accessed in the internet. I’m not saying the internet is a bad thing for the youth… there are just a lot of people misusing it and often times kids find themselves more amused to such content.

Those 90s programs gave us more than just learning and feels but also the inspiration needed to boost our creativity. We learned to draw, learn more about history, see the values in each story, and even do our own games, discover tools, and pursue all these with family and friends.

The quarantine may have placed all our plans on a halt but if we look at it in a different perspective, somehow it brought us a moment of simplicity which groomed us to be the influencers, leaders, workers, teachers, doctors, and engineers we are now.

A moment to be reminded of the simple life…
A moment of childhood hobbies, shows and games…
A moment to share these with today’s youth…

A moment…

May this quarantine remind you the simple, non complicated, joys of your younger years…
